We all saw how well the pre-sales were for the new Star Wars film, and that was just the beginning. Preview night alone already surpassed the past record holder, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2, by making $57M and Friday's sales broke the single day and opening day records held by the same film by making $120M. It certainly looks like this might be the biggest opening weekend in film history, and could possibly be a contender for the highest grossing film ever, a record in which Avatar currently holds with 760M in the US and 2.8B Worldwide. Only time will tell if this film will make as much money as it, but it's very clear that Star Wars fans everyone are getting out and seeing The Force Awakens as soon as they're able and, from what we've heard from many fans, they're seeing it more than once.
